Dr. Clayton Johnson is a partner and veterinarian Carthage Veterinary Service, Ltd. located in Carthage, Illinois. Dr. Johnson attended the University of Illinois, College of Veterinary Medicine, receiving a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, continuing on to complete the Executive Veterinary Program.
Dr. Johnson’s international reputation is built upon a foundation of creating bio-economic models of PRRSv and PEDv management strategies. His expertise in the training and development of veterinarians makes him a sought-after consultant throughout the world. Johnson also is well known internationally—particularly in China and SE Asia—as a consultant for companies looking to expand or improve their production processes. In 2020, Dr. Johnson was awarded with the distinguished Allen D. Leman Science in Practice Award. Considered the global swine industry’s premier award for swine veterinarians, the Science in Practice Award is given annually to veterinarians demonstrating an exceptional ability to utilize science in their everyday practice of health management.
Prior to working at Carthage Veterinary Service, Dr. Johnson served as the Director of Health and Animal Care at The Maschhoffs, LLC and oversaw the health services program as the company expanded from 100,000 to 200,000 sows.
